Welcome to Long Buckby Hockey Club!
We are a fun and friendly club offering ladies’, mixed and junior hockey. As a club we are always looking to recruit more players across all of our teams.Have a look through our site pages to find out more.
Following a recent update from England Hockey the move to bring hockey back into the community following the Coronavirus pandemic has moved from Step 2 to Step 4 of the 5-step process. To ensure that Long Buckby Hockey Club can implement this at a local level, as a Club we must complete specific procedures to enable us all to return to playing hockey. How these measures will affect members:
Allocating a designated COVID Officer
– The Club will have a designated Covid Officer and this will be Sam Grisewood. Any player who displays symptoms or tests positive for Coronavirus must inform the Covid Officer as soon as possible to enable the track and trace system to be effective.
– All players and members will have to complete a participation agreement form to ensure they are willing to abide by the guidelines set by the Government and England Hockey to enable safe participation in the sport.
NO PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT = NO HOCKEY.
This is an agreement implemented by England Hockey and the Government to ensure track and trace and is also advocated by Long Buckby Hockey Club as registers of attendance must be taken at every training and at every game for the safety of all.
– Please use this link for access:
– Each player must complete a self-assessment to ensure they are fit to play and are not showing any signs of COVID-19
In order to help all members of the Club remain safe during this transition back into hockey, it kindly requested that all players adhere to the following:
– Complete the Participation Agreement before attending any training or matches
– Bring your own drinks and playing equipment to each game
– Bring your own hand sanitiser to use during games (there will be additional hand sanitisers available but are occasionally difficult to source due to demand)
– England Hockey are advising that all players who wear facemasks (for short corners) use their own wherever possible
– Consideration should be given to carry a facemask wherever possible in accordance with Government guidelines to be used where social distancing may not be possible (e.g. travelling through the school grounds to access the pitch)
Training and Parker pitch
With the progression to Step 4, the Club can now look to start training however the Parker pitch is not currently available due to the school holidays due to no cover.
With the current options the Club have booked:
Where: Crick MUGA pitch
Cost: £3 per session
There will be a current maximum of 18 people due to current guidelines. Due to the size of the pitch at Crick, the Club will be looking to operate 12 people on the pitch with the remaining 6 people doing fitness drills. This will help to allow more people to attend and maintain the relevant social distancing required. These will be coached sessions and will run from 19th August to 9th September inclusive. Please contact us to get involved.
PLAYERS MUST COMPLETE A PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT TO ENABLE ATTENDANCE.
The Club are hoping to return to the Parker Academy from 16th September and will update players accordingly once this has been confirmed.
Further information about the England Hockey Guidelines can be found here:
Senior training commences from Wednesday 8th January at Parker E-ACT Academy from 7:30-9pm. Cost £3 per session.
Back To Hockey
What is Back to Hockey?
Back to Hockey sessions are coached sessions that provide a gentle introduction or reintroduction to the game. In the sessions, you will be introduced back to the game by mixing in some skills exercises with some small sided game play (eg 5v5, 6v6). However the emphasis is on a friendly and relaxed environment without the pressure to perform. It’s also an opportunity to get fitter, as each Back to Hockey session burns up to 450 calories (netfit.co.uk). B2H sessions attract a mixture of gender and abilities, therefore, we provide something for everyone.
Where do I find a session?
The Club will be running Back to Hockey Sessions on:-Wednesdays 8th– 29th January 2020 (4 weeks) – 7.30-8.30pmAt the Parker EACT Academy, Ashby Road, Daventry NN11 0QF – access via the new Randolph Building entrance.
How do I join a session?
Just send us a short email first so we can expect you at the session and answer any questions that you may have – Amanda.email@example.com
Or register on the website.
I haven’t played for a while…
Don’t worry if your new to the game or haven’t played for a while our Back to Hockey coach will gently guide you through this series of fun and friendly sessions. We will also take into account your level of fitness when planning and delivering each session. The activities you take part in during the session may help you improve your fitness over time.
What should I wear/bring to the session?
Comfortable sports clothing and trainers are best. We provide sticks however if you have your own stick that’s great and you are more than welcome to bring it. We would recommend brining a soft drink or bottle of water. Shin pads are definitely advisable and a gum shield is not essential to begin with, but bring them both if you have them.
How much does it cost?
£3 per session on the day.
Can I start playing competitively after I have attended a few sessions?
Yes, if you feel you want to play in league games or move on to general club training sessions then you can do so. The coaches encourage B2H members to join club training and teams if they can.
Can I just keep attending the training sessions?
Yes, you can continue to come to the clubs training sessions if you don’t feel you want to play in league games.
